Job Description
Solid Atlanta based manufacturing organization seeking a Senior Accountant. The position is open due to growth. The environment is among the best in Atlanta. Great team, opportunity for growth and exposure. Solid career path.
DUTIES:
Review monthly, quarterly, and yearly closings that conform to GAAP for division.
Provide system support (Oracle & Avante) to Accounting Manager and Controller, as well as corporate accounting
and subsidiary personnel.
Ensure integrity of financial statements.
Recording all journal entries to the general ledger in a timely and accurate manner.
Reconcile accounts monthly, proposing corrections as needed.
Ensure that transactional activity is coded accurately and financial reporting integrity is maintained.
Analyze financial statements monthly and develop variance explanations for distribution to management.
Reviewing reconciliations and monthly closing entries prepared by staff accountants.
PREFERRED BACKGROUND:
Public experience a plus if at least 3 years. 4-5 years total experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related field required.
CPA preferred but not required.
Supervisory experience in a closing environment (i.e., responsible for trial balance and overall closing activities).
Requires experience in making accounting estimates and judgments and preparing and maintaining trial balance to
permit preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Broad knowledge and experience in general accounting concepts.
Manufacturing experience preferred.
Solid understanding of GAAP.
Detailed and accurate.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Diligent at meeting deadlines.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and make decisions based on general guidelines.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
Excel (advanced spreadsheet skills desired)
MS Word
ERP system environment such as Oracle, SAP, JDE or other contemporary system preferred.
